Precautionary measures

Some Reminders to myself:

1. You love your family. Not seeing them for almost a year is going to be hard, but you can be strong!
2. If you don't like him, you don't have to kiss him. IN FACT you can tell him to leave. Please do, we don't want to keep the Creepers (with a capital C) around.
3. Working out is hard. It's harder when you've stopped for a long time. so please be consistent.
4. You'll miss reading when you all you'll read is text books so dedicate some time for it.
5. Your parents really do know what they're talking about.
6. DO NOT ever settle for less than you deserve

7. Pain is temporary

8. When you're doing your very best you'll NEVER disappoint yourself. You'll have disappointments, but you won't be disappointed in yourself.
9. Have fun :)

May Madness

April Showers bring May... Madness.

May isn't over yet, but I have quite the ample amount of time recently so I figured I'd blog.

My month of May has been pretty intense I must say. Hence (yeah, Hence) May Madness.

So first of all I'm insane and decided to stay in Cedar over summer. I miss my family, friends, dog, malls, food and lakes of New York already. Not going to lie it's been a little rough accepting the fact that I won't see most of them until Thanksgiving. On the plus side my brother Ben is going to come visit me and I'm SO SO SO SO SO SO SO excited! We have so much fun together and i can't wait to see him! He's a hoot.

Living in Cedar does have it's +'s (get it?? PLUS {+} ). I have a great job as hostess/busser/caterer person for the Garden House h! It's a ten minute walk from my house and I love (most of) the people I work with! It's a lot of fun and I get to meet new people everyday. Another + is that I get to organize the new Phi House! That doesn't really sound fun... but it is.

I've also got to go to Sand Hallow! One of my top places to visit and get nice and warm.

Another +. I went to the St. George temple, and although I didn't have time to go in it brought me so much peace just to be on the grounds. I'm learning to appreciate the temples more and their importance. They are all so beautiful.

I've been trying to expand my hobbies! I got a new camera and with some photography classes behind me I've been working to get some real world experience in. I did some shots of my friend Amanda, her husband and their dog Holly. I think they came out pretty well! For my first time... (check out my facebook if you want to see more)

And just real quick I have to tell a story. So last night I was on my way to this get together with some friends. Getting out of the door I (accidentally) slammed my left ring finger in the door. Hurt like a beast. I screamed... a lot. Anyways I made it through the night and through work the next day only to get sick to my stomach for 3 hours, but I feel better now :) The end.

April

Just F.Y.I. this blog is in reverse chronological order.
So April has been filled with some High's and Low's.

2. I don't have a picture to go with this, but I got a job and I'll be staying in Cedar for the summer! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I know people don't really understand why I wouldn't want to go home to NY for the summer, but can I just tell you, when you live there it's not that awesome and you realize there aren't a lot of people with your standards and the ones that are.... no offense, but they're kindddda creepy. really though, no offense.

3. I went to our Formal for Alpha Phi with Grady (in EN {Sigma Nu}) and he won Bordeaux Beau! I was so excited for him! He's so fun and I know he'll do a good job! I also won the Kate Hogoboom Gilbert Award. It means I'm religious, popular and have an infectious love for Alpha Phi (all hopefully true things!)
4. We had our Alpha Phi Sisterhood Retreat at the SUU Cabin this year! It was really fun and it was good to get away from Cedar for a little while! It was hard not having Kaily or Alicia there, but luckily Kela and Railee were there so we still had some sweet family bonding time.
5. We had a lovely Greek Week, which as the (former) UGC Vice President I was so glad it was well attended! This is from our awards banquet that Thursday night, where we presented various awards to each organization
6. This was at the start of Greek Week (before some Delta Psi broke Chelsea's nose!) I designed the t-shirts so I think they're kinda ugly.... but whateve's. It was the beginning of a fun week!
6. It's been a great month! For Easter (which I think was actually right before April?) I went to stay with Alicia! I had so much fun with her at her grandparents and we left with even more inside jokes then we came with.... which makes sense. (5:30!!!!!!!!!! Your car is a club! Your car is a club!) I picked this picture because her and I didn't get one together that weekend. It also makes me laugh and reminds me ya gotta take one for the team sometimes.
Low's:
I know no one wants to read about my low's but I think it's important that you take the good with the bad so here goes!
1. I didn't get into my program (graphic design). This was a huge blow... but I know things will work out! Positive attitude.... positive attitude.... positive attitude....
2. I didn't get this position in SUUSA I really wanted- not that big of a blow, but still sucks
3. I probably won't get to see my family until Thanksgiving.... while it's my choice, it still sucks.

So that's not many low's and I'm very grateful for all that I do have and i can NOT wait until summer starts!!!!!!!!!

15 March Minutes

I have 15 minutes to blog about everything that happened in March!... Then I have to get ready for class.
1. I lost my camera :(
2. I bought a new kick A camera
3. I WENT TO SAN DIEGO! and the beach! and L.A. to the Getty art museum... can i just say, I COULD live in an art museum. I absolutely love them!
4. I got to hang out with Ryan and Mark, my friends from Cali, they're darling.
5. My parents came to visit! We had so much fun and went to dinner with Alicia and Shar.
6. I got to spend ALL spring break hanging out with ma big! We had so much fun. we went on various factory tours, got sushi, watched all of freaks and geeks and worked out pretty much every morning at 5am. Holla. It was an awesome break.
7. My BFF Hannah came to visit from Boston and we had so much fun! We went sledding on plastic tarps and stayed up way too late :)
8. I got nominated for both EX and EN sweetheart! That was pretty exciting.
9. I ran for SUUSA senator, it was fun and I didn't win- so I'm happy. SO happy, it would have been too much work.
10. I've decided I want to stay in Cedar for the Summer

Highlights from the Month of Feb.

Sorry! Again! but here's some pictures and a little bit about my life.
1. Alicia came to visit for Alpha Phi's 4th Annual Red Dress Gala!!! I was so excited to see her and so sad when she left. Weekends really are NOT long enough.


2. My Dad mailed me flowers for Valentines Day! Who needs boys when you've got a Dad :)

3. I got a 91 on my Western Civ II History Test! And not to brag but I beat the two greek boys that I sit with... chyeaaaaa.

4. I went to one bizarre-o Valentines Day Party... but it was fun! Kaily got cake smashed in her face... it was pretty eventful.

5. I was a contestant in SUU's Dancing with the Stars! It was SO FUN. SO INTENSE. but so fun! I didn't win or anything, but I'm so grateful for all those that came out and supported me and made all the funny signs. I really couldn't have done it without you! And thanks for the flowers Big!

6. And last but certainly not least there was the Alpha Phi Southwest Regional Conference in L.A. that i got to attend. I learned so much about Alpha Phi and how to be a better VPMR. it was fun to hang out with the EC, get to know them better and have inside jokes. "Oh Ginger!"

Highlights!

Highlights from the month of January

1. Rush went pretty well! It was mostly a huge learning experience about what to do and what not to do for Fall Rush. We gave bids to 7 wonderful new baby phi's. They're all great girls and i love them!
2. I have new roommates! They are great and i LOVE LOVE LOVE them ALL! Unfortunately Ashley broke her heel last weekend and had to move home :( but she's in my prayers and I'll miss her tons! My roomies are so nice and invite me to everything even though i can't go to half the stuff they invite me to. Pictured is myself, Kelli, Ashley and Lacee. I was going to a party and they were going to an 80's dance. I realize that I look prettty awful.
3.Ryan and his friend Mark came to visit me from California!!! Although it was slightly awkward at times and they thought Cedar was super sketchy and boring it was still fun. We went bowling and watched Taken. Good times :). Again, sorry I look pale and creepy.
4. Last week was Sigma Chi's Philanthropy week. They raised money for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. They had a fun masquerade dance on Friday. Oh! and on Tuesday they had their annual "derby darling" pageant. It's basically a pageant making fun of pageants. My talent was that I could write parodies and although I forgot the words half way through, I got first attendant! So... that was kinda cool!

5. This week has been our Philanthropy week and although I don't have an pictures from it, it's been VERY successful... I think. And way fun! Tonight is our Red Dress Gala (4th Annual, I believe) and Alicia is in town!!!!! She's visiting and I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HER!!!! Last night we went to dinner at Cafe Rio with Tim and Austin and Johnny boy eventually showed up too. Lots o Laughs.
6. Dancing with the Stars! Oh my goodness! I have practice every morning (except Thursday) and it is SO fun. I really love learning something new and it's inspired me to expand my horizons. Recently I've gone snowboarding for the first time (SO FUN!) and played raquetball, also so fun! And I've been trying to go swimming at least 4 times a week. I love swimming!!!! I need to get a new bathing suit though... hmmm.
7. Hannah my BEST FRIEND bought her tickets to come out and visit me!!!!! I'm SO EXCITED!!!! She'll be coming at the end of February and we are going to have SO MUCH FUN!
8. My parents are going to come visit me too! They're coming the weekend of March 6th and I'm so happy! My mom is going to be an initiated member of Alpha Phi!!! I am so excited to share it with her. And excited to see my Dad :). I just wish Ben could come visit me too :(.
Well that's about all that's been going on in my life! It's been going pretty well and a fun year already! Go January! You didn't suck :)

The Career World

I realized that my most favorite currently employed sisters have more time to blog than myself. If this truly is the case, can I have a career now please?
